The monthly, weekly and, depending on what's happening in this mad, mad industry of ours, sometimes daily views of Caroline Marshall - Foster, Managing Editor of The Florist, the only independent trade magazine for the £1.8 billion retail flower industry in the UK.
Never known to hold back, she comments on what's happening, what's got her goat and even what's made her happy... yes it does happen!
Have something of your own to say? Want to vent your feelings? Got an idea you want to share? Then e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Replies go straight to her computer so anything you say is strictly between you and her... unless you want it made public!
Whilst I really do appreciate my friend calling me, I confess I also burst into tears when she told me why she was calling.Add a comment
Is there a future for the independent florist? Hmmm … there was a time when I would have shouted from the rooftops a resounding Yes. Now I am not so sure. The reason? As a sector it is becoming more and more fragmented and as a result predators have a far easier chance to take market share.Add a comment
Unlike most people in the UK I have actually been to Colombia ... first in 2001 and every other year since always for at least a week so I could travel the farms and meet the people.Add a comment

I asked a question on my FB page the other day and 168 comments later wondered what had hit me. Because the outpouring was incredible. Not just with good, strong and intelligent debate on FB but a slew of messages sent privately because they were too afraid to say publicly in case they got into trouble … particularly with their relay companies.Add a comment
I am not adverse to a bargain but why does it seem like everyone wants to buy their shop stock at cheap as chip prices rather than investing in quality and, more importantly, bespoke/different things. A chap on Facebook, Daniel Claeys has done a really strong piece which I hope to share via a regular column from him but in the meantime a thought.Add a comment
